Hot-dip galvanizing is the only reliable and durable corrosion protection of iron outdoors. All SCHRAUBFREI posts are basically hot-dip galvanized. Upon customer request, the posts are also available powder-coated.

High-quality hot-dip galvanizing has a high layer thickness, which is not always flat. In relation to hot-dip galvanizing, the powder coating applied is very thin. Thus, the unevenness of the thick zinc application sometimes appears on the powder-coated surface. However, this is not a defect in the posts.

No. The planks do not always have to be purchased at SCHRAUBFREI. Prospective customers are offered the exact cut per plank at a meter price per plank and customers receive at least one plank per field without any charge.

No doors and gates can be ordered at SCHRAUBFREI. However, as the width and height of the visual protection fences are easily adjustable, customers should install a standard gate and simply adjust the width and height of the SCHRAUBFREI- fence accordingly.

Hot-dip galvanizing is up to ten times thicker than galvanizing and therefore protects the iron much more effectively and for a longer time.

​The SCHRAUBFREI posts are 239 centimeters long. Of this length, about 50 centimeters are provided for integration into a foundation and about 10 centimeters for covering over the foundation (earth or paving). This results in a maximum fence height of about 180 centimeters. This is the same for all models. The inserted boards always cover about 180 centimeters.

If you create a concrete base under the privacy fence, for example from commercially available deep curbs, which should be 8 centimeters wide like the posts, the total fence height can be increased to about 190 centimeters. You achieve this increase because the posts do not need to be so deep in the foundation, since the space between the ground surface and the lowest fence board is filled by the curb. Overall, the post and thus the fence can be higher.

In addition, post extensions are available from SCHRAUBFREI. With these 80 cm long extensions, which can be force-fitted over the lower ends of the posts and fixed with screws, a maximum increase of 30 centimeters can be realized. With this variant, too, a base should be provided under the privacy fence. The described type of construction is especially suitable in case of different height of the ground in front of and behind the fence.

​Basically, there are two approaches to this, namely the technical and the aesthetic. According to the formal conception of SCHRAUBFREI founder Markus Müller, rectangles placed on edge have a more exciting effect than rectangles placed horizontally. Narrow fields that are higher than wide have a noble effect.

Furthermore it can be said: Since inlaid boards are natural products, shorter planks behave more calmly and retain their shape better than longer planks. This fact should definitely be taken into account when planning the field width.

Irrespective of the two aspects mentioned above, here are the notes on maximum possible widths: For the different types of privacy fences (7 – 7/25° – 9 – 9T – Rhombus), different maximum field widths must be observed due to the different dimensions of the planks. In the case of Douglas fir planks, 20 millimeters thick and used in types 7 and 7/25°, the maximum width is 200 centimeters. For Douglas fir and type 9 boards, as well as for the rod-glued larch planks 23 millimeters thick and type 9T or type Rhombus, the maximum width is 230 centimeters.
